Summers are the best time to consume home made popsicles, ice creams and ice cold beverages. We drink Shikanji (similar to Lemonade), Watermelon Juice and Masala Chaas, an Indian Spiced Buttermilk to beat the heat and stay hydrated.
Ice creams are my guilty pleasure. I go weak in my knees when I enter an ice cream parlour and always end up eating a double scoop! I love all flavors but fruit based ones are a favorite besides the crowd favorite, chocolate.
Ice creams are traditionally made with cream, condensed milk and usually involves some churning in the ice cream maker or blender. If you lack patience, like me, these mango yogurt popsicles are just for you.
Mango Popsicles with yogurt just needs 3 ingredients, 1 blender, 1 spatula and 6 popsicle molds. 6 hours later, you can enjoy unlimited popsicles from the freezer! It is that simple! No churning, no sweat at all!

These popsicle molds were purchased online. I had chosen a red colour mold but when I opened the package, I found this pale green colour one and was slightly disappointed. I didn't want to waste time returning and just went ahead and used it.

If you do not have popsicle molds, do not fret. There are creative ways to use available resources and yet enjoy these summer treats.
How to Make Popsicle without Popsicle Molds
- Disposable paper Cups can be filled and half way through freezing, carefully insert the sticks so that they stay firm.
- Ice Trays or Muffin trays can also be used. The popsicles would be smaller and plump in size but hey, no compromise in taste. Use small toothpicks instead of candy sticks.
- Even wooden skewers that are used for barbeque can be used instead of candy sticks.
- Also these can be poured in a small cake tin and then cut into squares and served on a plate instead of a candy stick. When using cake tin, cover the top with a cling film to avoid ice crystals.
Mango Popsicle Ingredients
Mango - I have used 1 cup of Alphonso Mangoes for the recipe that are peeled and chopped. These variety of mangoes are naturally sweet and contain less fibrous strands. Use a variety that is locally available in supermarkets. If the mango is sour, use more sugar or honey to adjust.
Yogurt - I have used home made yogurt or curd for this recipe. You can use thick store bought Greek Yogurt or any variety that is available in local stores.
Honey - Yogurt is slightly tangy and to balance the same, I have used honey. As mentioned above, adjust the quantity of honey or any sweetener depending upon the mangoes. Always taste your ingredients and then decide.

Vegan Substitutions
Mango Popsicles can be made using Almond Milk Yogurt or Coconut Milk Yogurt. Both are easily available in leading supermarkets.
Instead of Honey, you can use granulated sugar, castor sugar or Maple Syrup.
7 Ways to Make Mango Popsicles
Here are some of the different ways in which you can experiment by using different fruits according to season and availability.
These would make an excellent treat for kids as after school snack too.
- Mango Banana Popsicle - You can add frozen banana while blending yogurt and mango for a creamy texture.
- Mango Blueberry Popsicle - Berries like strawberry, blueberry and raspberry all make a wonderful addition. You can either blend everything together or chop the berries and add it with the mango yogurt mixture. You can enjoy the berries with every bite of the popsicle.
- Mango Chilli Popsicle - If you love a bit of heat and especially love the combination of Mango and chillies (paprika or cayenne), then add it while blending the ingredients. Tip - Don't forget to add a pinch of sea salt to elevate the flavors of chilli and sweetness of the mangoes.
- Mango Coconut Popsicle - You can use coconut milk yogurt, some fresh coconut to the recipe. You could also add a few pieces of fresh coconut and enjoy it with every bite.
- Mango Passionfruit Popsicle - Passionfruit and mangoes make a wonderful addition plus they look so amazing. If passionfruit is tart, add extra honey or maple syrup.
- Mango Kiwi Popsicle - Finely chopped Kiwi pieces or slices can be added while pouring the mango popsicle mixture into the molds. Would not recommend blending both fruits together as the color contrast would really pop if pieces or slices are added.
- Mango Popsicle with Tajin Seasoning - Adding the extra kick and oomph to your popsicles, similar to the chilli pops would be addition of tajin seasoning. This Mexican condiment adds the wow factor of lime, sea salt and chilli
For folks who are lactose intolerant and are capable of consuming Kefir, these Mango popsicles can easily be made using Kefir instead of yogurt.
