Step Wise Instructions to Make Air Fryer Green Beans under 20 minutes. Easy Vegetarian Side that is low carb, Whole 30, Vegetarian, Vegan and gluten Free.

Air Fryer Green Beans

6 Ingredient Crispy Garlicky Air Fryer Green Beans - An easy Air Fryer Side Recipe that is perfect for weeknight dinners. All it takes is 20 minutes (including prep work) and uses basic pantry staples.

These Garlicky Green Beans are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. They are perfectly roasted in the air fryer making it a delectable side or snack.

These green beans made in air fryer are Low Carb, Whole 30, Vegan, Vegetarian and Gluten Free. The recipe is also nut-free, neither uses any breading, egg or parmesan cheese. Low in oil, this is a great way to include more veggies in your diet.

We love green beans at home and while they are mostly turned into stir fries with coconut, I love these crispy beans as a snack or a quick side with mains.

The recipe is quite versatile and I have provided a number of seasoning ideas below (Ingredients and Substitutions) to make sure you don't run out of ideas or reason to serve this every week.

While this recipe is created using an Air Fryer, please check the tips section below wherein I have specified oven timings.

Ingredients, Substitutions and Seasoning Options

Ingredients for making Air Fryer Green Beans

Green Beans - Washed, Drained completely and pat dried with a kitchen towel to remove excess moisture. Note - Moisture makes beans soggy.

Garlic Powder - Can be substituted with fresh garlic (sliced thick)

Chili Flakes - substitute with cayenne or smoked paprika

Black Pepper Powder

Olive Oil - You can use toasted sesame oil for Asian flavors instead of olive oil.

This recipe does not use any breadcrumbs or cheese. For a Keto version of the recipe, use butter instead of Olive Oil and you can add 1/4 cup of Almond Flour for coating the beans along with the spices.

Nutritional Yeast (For Vegans / dairy-free recipe) or Parmesan Cheese (Keto) are other substitutes

If you are not allergic to nuts, toasted almonds would be a great topping for beans.

If you are planning this for Thanksgiving, some of the topping ideas would be dried or fresh cranberries, raisins, toasted and coarsely crushed walnuts or pecans.

Love coconut flavors? Swap the olive oil with coconut oil and top the beans with toasted coconut slices while serving.

Asian Flavors - You can toss the green beans with some soy sauce (use tamari for gluten-free recipe) and sriracha (skip the chili flakes). Serve the beans topped with roasted sesame seeds.

Indian Flavors - Curry Powder, Garam Masala, Turmeric, Ground Cumin and Coriander are some of the ways to marinate the beans before air frying.

Other Seasoning options include Cajun Spice, Zaatar, Sumac or Baharat (for Middle Eastern Flavors), Jerk Seasoning etc.

Tips

Always pre-heat your Air Fryer for atleast 2-3 minutes and spray with oil before placing the items for frying.

The recipe states 8-10 minutes of cook time. I would essentially open the basket after 5 minutes, shake once and check.

I have Air Fried the entire quantity of 250 grams in one batch. If you observe (step by step pics), they are placed in a crisscross pattern sufficiently allowing the air to circulate. The Recipe can be easily doubled - Just Air Fry in 2 batches!

Don't have an Air Fryer? - Line a baking tray with parchment paper and layer the green beans in one single line. Preheat the oven for 10 minutes before placing the tray for baking. It should take 10 - 12 minutes at 180 Degree Celsius. Do make it a point to turn the tray after 5 - 7 minutes of baking time.

The air fryer should be cleaned after every use. Remove excess oil (that drips and collects below) to prevent smoking.

Serving Suggestions

Green beans can be typically served with wraps, sandwiches and burgers instead of regular fries.

Can be added to salads or served with soups as appetizer.

Serve this with Quinoa and a lentil curry along with chopped salad for lunch or weeknight dinner.

Green beans are best served with Air Fried Roasted Potatoes. Pair it with cauliflower rice and Indian Chickpea Curry (Chana Masala).

FAQ's

Can we reheat Green Beans in Air Fryer?

Yes. Green Beans can be reheated at 150 degree Celsius for 3 - 5 minutes.

How to prevent Soggy Air Fryer Green beans?

The beans should be completely dry before seasoning and oil is added. Ensure the washed beans are completely pat dried using a kitchen towel.

Can we Air Fry Green Beans and Potatoes together?

Yes. Add the potatoes to the air fryer basket and once they are almost done, add the beans. Beans takes less time to cook as compared to potatoes or sweet potatoes.
