Equipment

  • Blender

Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cup Pomegranate Juice about 400 ml
  • 1 Banana medium size, frozen or fresh
  • 2 Apples Gala or Fuji variety (peeled, cored and roughly chopped)

1 cup is 250 ml

Instructions

  • In a Blender Jar, add frozen banana, peeled and cored apples and fresh pomegranate juice.
  • Blend until smooth and creamy.
  • Serve in a tall glass topped with pomegranate arils (optional)

Notes

  • You may notice difference in color of the smoothie. The blender Jar has a visible pink color unlike the glass. This is because the smoothie contains apples and pomegranate juice and both have oxidative properties. The smoothie is perfectly safe to drink. It is just the natural tendency of the fruits.
  • Fruit Juices are best consumed fresh. Would not advise storing this in the refrigerator.
  • Since the recipe uses frozen banana, I have not added ice or chilled water.
Pomegranate Smoothie Without Banana
If you don't like Banana in your smoothie, add fruits like Pears, extra portion of apples, Oats, nut butter, regular milk or dairy-free options like almond, oat and coconut.
Banana, especially ripe ones are naturally sweet and are perfect for those who are looking for sugar free smoothie options.
Variations
Berries - Blueberries, Cranberries, Raspberries, Blackberry, Strawberry can be added. Keep in mind that berries are naturally sweet and tart so taste and add sweetener, if required.
Tropical fruits like Mango, Pineapple, Passionfruit, Lychee
Citrus Fruits like Orange, Sweet Lime, Kiwi are also great additions.
If you are planning to add dairy based milk to the smoothie, avoid adding citrus fruits as it curdles the milk.
